CentriFuse severe-service brake drum cuts weight

A new severe service brake drum available from Motor Wheel Commercial Vehicle Systems for axle load ratings up to 26,000 lbs., weighs 25 lbs. less than typical heavy-duty, full-cast, drums, the company said. The CentriFuse Plus long life/severe service brake drum is available in a 16.5 in. x 7 in. size and carries a 10-yr. written warranty. The advantage of the drums, according to Motor Wheel, a Precision Partners Inc. company, is lower maintenance costs and increased fuel economy due to their lighter weight.
