Dometic unveils battery-powered air conditioning system

LOUISVILLE, KY. Dometic Environmental Corp. has introduced a battery-powered auxiliary air conditioning system aimed at day cabs, announced here at the Mid-America Trucking Show. The CARB-compliant system is designed to reduce idling while a truck is waiting to load and unload at terminals. According to the company, the 7,000-BTU unit provides two hours of cooling without running the truck engine, using a bank of Group 31 absorbed glass mat (AGM) batteries as its power source.
