New battery from East Penn

The UltraBattery from East Penn combines an enhanced power negative electrode in a lead-acid battery, enhancing its ability to accept and deliver high levels of power with low levels of electrical resistance similar to a supercapacitor, the company said. East Penn will market the battery technology in North America through an exclusive agreement with Japan’s Furukawa Battery Co.—which developed the battery alongside Australia’s Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO).
