Cummins According to Cummins Inc., it continues to move down its dual track toward 2010: the company's medium-duty engines will rely on the addition of SCR aftertreatment systems to meet the new limits on NOx, while its heavy-duty engines will depend on enhanced EGR technology. Steve Charlton, vp-heavy-duty engineering, stated at a recent media briefing that Cummins' non-SCR engines will comply with the 2010 emissions rules without resorting to the use of “banked” emissions credits via the EPA's averaging, banking and trading provisions.
