Cummins has OTR APU

The Cummins ComfortGuard auxiliary power unit (APU) for over-the-road trucks will be available starting in January 2007. Shawn Wasson, APU business leader for Cummins, says the APU will be able to provide enough power for the “hotel loads” needed by an OTR vehicle's sleeper compartment, including refrigerator, TV, computer, heater and air conditioner. ROI is estmated at 18 months. The ComfortGuard APU is powered by a 2-cyl. diesel engine. Other specs include 120-volt AC power, 12-volt DC power, weight of 375 lb., and self-diagnostics.
