SAF-Holland lightens the fifth wheel

SAF-Holland has introduced a lightweight aluminum fifth wheel, the Holland FW, which was designed by SAF-Holland and manufactured by Alcoa. Developed for standard-duty applications, the new fifth wheel is made with the same aluminum alloy as Alcoa's aluminum truck wheels. According to SAF-Holland, the unit is “100 lb. lighter than competitive” products. Rated for 55,000 lb. maximum vertical load and 150,000 lb. maximum drawbar pull, the FW is backed by a five-year/500,000-mi. warranty.
