Honda adds hybrid Class 8 Pete to parts-center fleet

American Honda Motor Co. has added a Peterbilt Model 386 hybrid diesel-electric truck to its Alpharetta, GA parts-center fleet. The company uses Class 8 trucks to transport service parts between its parts centers and dealerships, with the fleet traveling about 300,000 miles per day, Honda said. According to the company, the SmartWay-certified hybrid is expected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by almost 45 tons per year.
