LaHood hearing set for Wednesday

The confirmation hearing for Rep. Ray LaHood (R-IL) as Secretary of Transportation has been set for Wednesday, Jan. 21 at 2 p.m. EST, the U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation has announced. According to The Washington Post, LaHood’s confirmation hearing was originally scheduled for yesterday afternoon, but was delayed after the Committee said it required additional background paperwork before the process could begin. LaHood is the second Republican chosen by President-elect Barack Obama for his cabinet.  If confirmed, he will replace the departing Mary Peters, who has been Secretary of Transportation since 2006. ...
