Canada presses FMCSA on insurance

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) is considering a petition from the Government of Canada and the Property Casualty Insurers of America to eliminate the need for Canadian insurance companies to link with a U.S. insurance company to insure Canadian carriers that operate in the U.S. Canada believes that FMCSA’s current motor carrier financial responsibility policies place Canada-domiciled carriers operating in the U.S. at a competitive disadvantage. “Achieving a seamless motor vehicle liability insurance policy between Canada and the United States for motor carriers would contribute to enhancing the competitive and efficient position of North American business,” ...
