Waltco shifts manufacturing to Ohio

Hydraulic liftgate manufacturer Waltco Truck Equipment Co. has shifted manufacturing work from its Gardena, CA., plant to Tallmadge, OH. The Gardena facility will continue to house warehousing activities, but will no longer provide production support. About 40 employees, both salaried and hourly, are affected. The company is negotiating severance packages with the union representing the employees. Waltco recently invested in several new technologies at the Tallmadge plant, which employs about 250 people.
