CARB reefer rule

The California Air Resources Board (CARB) has received a waiver from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) that will allow it to enforce regulations requiring all Transport Refrigeration Units (TRU) operating in the state to have emission control technology installed that is less than seven years old. According to CARB, the approximately 40,000 in-state and out-of-state refrigerated trucks on the road in California will need to add new emission control mechanisms or purchase new engines.
